Retail Opportunity at Booths Development Attract High Levels of Interest
Posted on 16th April 2009
With just 20 weeks to go before construction work on the new Booths food store and town centre development in Garstang is complete, interest in the retail opportunities available is gathering momentum reports Booths commercial property consultants Robert Pinkus & Co.
Claire Eccleston, Retail Surveyor at Robert Pinkus & Co. is looking after the marketing of the shop units on site and said, “As work on site becomes more advanced, enquiries are rising as people can now start to visualise how the scheme will look when it’s finished. There’s a growing air of excitement surrounding the scheme within the local community and businesses are interested to find out about the opportunities available.”
Adjacent to the new Booths food store, four retail units will front the new Town Square just off Park Hill Road, one of which has already been snapped up by Wyre Borough Council for its new Tourist Information Centre. Benefiting from an onsite public car park offering 333 spaces, the ground floor shop units offer a combined total space of 2,493 sq ft, each fitted out to shell specification including oak double glazed shop fronts with servicing areas to the rear.
Offices up to 5,608 sq ft are also available in an excellent centralised position adjacent to Booths, located on the first floor above the new retail units and food store. The offices will all be fitted out to the highest standard with double glazing, central heating, stair and lift access, three phase and single phase electricity and perimeter trunking for data and power requirements.
Within the new Booths store itself a further 1,477 sq ft of retail sales is also available at first floor level offering an excellent opportunity to trade alongside Booths busy Tea Room. Booths is looking for a retailer which will complement its existing offer and customer base and believe that lifestyle retailers such as gifts, homeware or arts and crafts would be a welcome and valuable addition to the store.
The former Booths building is now also being marketed for lease or sale and has already received plenty of attention from several high profile national retailers. The property is in an excellent position within the town centre and will provide a necessary link from the old town centre to the new development, via the pedestrian walkway to the front of the property know as Stoops Weind, that links the existing High Street to the new car park.
The impressive two-storey building offers up to 10,378 sq ft of retail space that can be let as a whole or split into smaller self-contained units, subject to requirements, and lends itself to a variety of uses including restaurant operators, subject to planning. The ground floor currently comprises a large sales area with good natural light and coffered ceiling, an ancillary store area and loading bay to the rear and further office and storage space at first floor level. A 1500 kg goods hoist is also in place linking the two floors.
Claire Eccleston said, “The development offers some great opportunities to become part of the close knit, vibrant, Garstang business community that celebrates its thriving market town reputation, Britain in Bloom accolades and its Fairtrade status with pride. We are encouraged by the initial interest expressed by both local and national retailers and we are confident this new mixed use town centre development will be a massive boost for the future prosperity of Garstang.”
