Posted on 15th October 2013
Booths have started work on the Teanlowe Centre Poulton where they will be building a new foodstore of 35,000 sq ft.
The project involves demolition of the western part of the existing Teanlowe Centre which contains, among others, Co-op and WH Smith, to make way for the new store. Repairs and improvements will be made to the remainder of the centre comprising the eastern mall, which leads out to Market Place.
The first stage of the process has already been completed, with the permanent relocation of Occasions Cards & Gifts into the eastern mall, and the temporary relocation of Bodycare ahead of their taking over a large modernised shop opposite Something Special, Occasions, Oxfam and Thomsons Travel.
The roof over the eastern mall leading to Market Place is to be renewed and this work will commence shortly, due for completion in January 2014. This will be followed by an extension of the former Clark’s shoe shop into Market Place, to accommodate relocated tenants and further works to the mall which will receive new floor and ceiling finishes and a two storey glazed entrance to Market Place.
The final stage, which is due to commence next October will be the demolition of the western mall to make way for the new Booths store.
The Teanlowe car park will be upgraded and will become a free short stay car park for shoppers, similar to the car park at the Garstang Booths.
The creation of the new link road through Hardhorn Road car park, which will improve circulation of traffic around Poulton town centre is due to open before completion of the new store, which is scheduled for the beginning of 2016.
