Garstang Town Welcomes Plans for Weind Development
Posted on 7th November 2012
Plans have been unveiled to improve Stoops Weind in the centre of Garstang Town Centre.
Lanceshire Ltd. have submitted plans to convert the outbuildings on Singletons, Stoops Weind into two business premises, one of which could be a fish and chip eatery and takeaway. The project is an integral part of the ongoing improvements of Stoops Hall, the ground floor of which is Singletons, which is rented to Dawson’s Bakery of Blackpool.
Spokesperson for Lanceshire Ltd., Robert Pinkus said the overall investment including the purchase of the premises, the improvements and now the shops plan represented a £750,000 investment in Garstang. The creation of two large flats on the upper floors of Stoops Hall has been underway for several weeks and are due for completion early next month.
Work on the fish restaurant and second business premises is due to start as soon as planning approval has been granted. Work on the premises will take between six to eight weeks, which means the businesses could be up and running early in 2013, creating new jobs and giving Garstang town centre a new year boost.
Wyre Borough Council is planning to make a decision on the plans by December 14th. Consultations on the plans began last week.
