New Business Centre Planned for Art Deco HQ, Riversway Docklands, Preston
Posted on 20th March 2018
Further to last week’s breaking news that the Old Docks House on Watery Lane, Preston has been acquired and is set to become a brand new business centre, we can now provide further details on the development.
The historic Old Docks House is known for its art deco clocktower and has formerly housed businesses such as NCO and The Community Network. The property has been acquired by The Watermark, a Preston-based business that currently operates two serviced office spaces in the city – The Watermark on Ribbleton Lane and Preston Enterprise Centre, Salter Street.
The impressive, two storey, Art Deco-styled HQ property will also be transformed into fully serviced offices offering over 12,000 sq ft with parking for 40. The refurbishment programme is already underway and the new owners are expecting to open in late summer.
Altaf Ali of The Watermark said, “Old Docks House is a prestigious building and we’re pleased to play our part in reviving it and giving it a new lease of life. We expect the building works to to take around four months and once complete it could house as many as 20 – 30 businesses, offering a chance to be part of a historic building without the financial commitments required to lease, or acquire it in its entirety.”
Napthens and Robert Pinkus & Co advised the new owners and Duxburys Commercial acted on behalf of the seller, Barnard Estate Properties Ltd.
