Business Rate Exemption Opportunities at Blackpool Enterprise Zone

Properties that fall within the Blackpool Enterprise Zone, subject to qualifying criteria, can potentially benefit from business rate exemption up to a maximum of £275,000 over a five year period for new businesses loacting before May 2023. Businesses can also benefit from Enhanced Capital Allowances for investment in fixed plant and machinery if occupation is taken by March 2023.
What is Blackpool Enterprise Zone?
A new government backed initiative is providing Enterprise Zone status to a 144 hectare site incorporating the existing Blackpool Airport site and surrounding commercial areas. It will help to transform the area into a key employment site with the potential to support up to 140 new businesses and 3,000 high-tech jobs over the next 25 years.
Blackpool Enterprise Zone is also set to become a centre of excellence for the energy sector, including hosting the flagship Lancashire Energy HQ, a development by Blackpool & The Fylde College which is backed by £6.2m of Growth Deal funding and will provide a dedicated new training facility for energy technicians. The Zone is also home to Lightworks, where Blackpool Illuminations are manufactured and stored.
What properties qualify?
