The head office of leading regional retailer Booths has been ranked alongside some of the best commercial developments in the country.

The headquarters on Longridge Road, Ribbleton has scooped two prestigious architectural awards for its design at the Royal Town Planning Institute’s (RTPI) regional awards ceremony in Manchester. It was named the Best New Office Building and the Overall Winner at the Institute’s Annual Planning Achievement Awards 2009 earlier this month.

The RTPI judges were impressed by both the client’s and the architect’s vision for the design, external appearance and layout of the new office building, together with all the green elements which play a fundamental part in the functioning of the building.

Booths property Director Graham Booth said, “We wanted to create a comfortable, contemporary and efficient working environment for our employees and visitors, as well as provide a sustainable building of quality, both visually and operationally.”

The building was designed by Brian Soppitt of Farrell & Clark Architects of Leeds, West Yorkshire. Robert Pinkus was an active member of the development team behind the project working alongside Donald Clark Architect, Steven Abbott Associates, Buro Happold and The Eric Wright Group.
